The short version
Everything BRODY watches is off until it is turned on. BRODY keeps numbers and short summaries instead of recordings, and trustees see a gentle summary rather than a transcript of everything said.
What we collect
- Trustees: name, email, an optional phone number, and a password stored only as a hash.
- Parents: name, time zone, routines, the chat messages needed for the check-in conversation, and the sharing choices.
- Numbers: routine check-offs, speech pace and pauses, mood scores, scam-check counts and help requests.
- Optional memories BRODY keeps to be a better companion, which the lead trustee can review and delete.
What we do not keep
- Audio. Voice is measured in the browser and only numbers are sent.
- The text of messages checked for scams, or forwarded by text message.
- Phone numbers that forward texts, other than a one-way hash.
- Anything the parent has not agreed to share.
Who sees it
Lead trustees and trustees see the status line, notes, alerts and summaries. Circle members see only the one-line status and can send notes. We do not sell data and do not show ads.
Service providers
- Hosting and database (Canadian region).
- Twilio, for urgent text and phone alerts and scam forwarding.
- An AI model provider, which receives chat text with names removed.
Your choices
- The parent can pause monitoring at any time.
- Each kind of sharing can be switched off separately.
- Trustees can delete a parent and all their data, and delete memories one by one.
Safety and breaches
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. If a breach puts people at real risk of harm we will tell those affected and the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.
